Virtual convention will serve as a resource for ag education

The president of the Michigan FFA Association says this week’s virtual convention should serve as a resource for the organization.

Alex Scovill tells Brownfield he believes ag teachers could recruit and better prepare students for future leadership competitions by utilizing the online sessions.

“If they’re going over public speaking or if they’re talking about different opportunities available for students—there’s a lot of different resources that they can pull up these clips and use them in their classroom,” he says.

The current officer team choose the theme “Seek to Serve” for their year of service which Scovill says will also be carried out with a virtual service opportunity for members in a few weeks.

During the convention, Michigan FFA added the Detroit International Academy for Young Women into the organization’s growing list of more than 120 chapters across the state.
