Vilsack announces $59M food supply chain investment

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says the administration is investing $59 million in grants to help increase independent meat and poultry processing capacity.

Vilsack says the funds align with President Biden’s plan to create a more competitive and resilient food supply chain. The grants will be allocated to five independent processors under the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP).

Vilsack says the investments will help build new processing plants, create hundreds of jobs, and give local producers and consumers more options.
