USSEC Global Trade Exchange optimism

Leaders of the U.S. Soybean Export Council say they’re optimistic about the future.

Jim Sutter spoke to reporters following the council’s Global Trade Exchange which he says doubled the amount of participants this year even though it was online.

“We’re optimistic that the resiliency of our U.S. soybean farmers and other facets of our soy value chain will pull us through. And, we anticipate a return to more stable markets for soy in the coming year.”

Sutter says phase one of the U.S./China trade deal seems to be progressing well and they were assured by Ambassador Greg Doud that many procedural issues in the deal have been ironed out.

“And we are SO pleased that we’ve seen such an uptick in trade in the last few weeks, we are optimistic that that phase-one agreement will be implemented well.”

Sutter says they’re encouraged by the potential for great U.S. soybean yields this year and increased export sales to Bangladesh, Egypt and Pakistan. People from more than 60 countries took part in the trade exchange events.
