USMCA ratification would immediately benefit U.S. farmers

The Rural and Agriculture Council of America is confident USMCA ratification will result in immediate benefits for U.S. farmers and ranchers.

The Council’s Cooper Little says a ratified agreement would alleviate concerns for ag commodities across the board.

“By just that peace of mind that those markets are secure for the future, and we can continue to build those great partnerships with our North American neighbors. I think (the benefits) would be instant.”

He points to dairy in particular.

“Once ratified, I believe dairymen will immediately start seeing alleviation by having more access to the Canadian market.”

Little tells Brownfield it’s time to get USMCA across the finish line.

“USMCA has been sitting in Congress since last year. It’s been a mutually agreed upon deal, and I think we should go ahead and check that box and then move on down the line with our other trade disputes.”

He says finalizing USMCA would bring certainty to farmers and momentum to other trade negotiations.
