USDA sets deadline for CRP applications

USDA has set a July 26th deadline for ag producers and landowners to apply to its Conservation Reserve Program general signup. USDA says CRP allows producers and landowners to establish long-term resource-conserving plant species to control soil erosion, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency is adding a one-time ‘inflationary’ adjustment for payment rates and says it will have more flexibility on adjusting soil rental rates.

FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux says his agency is excited to roll out the ‘new and improved CRP General signup. He says CRP now makes more financial sense for producers and provides a bigger return on investment through natural benefits.

FSA will also be accepting applications for CRP Grasslands from July 12 through August 20th

Landowners can sign up for CRP through their local USDA Service Center.
