USDA lists meatpacking plants reopening

The USDA released a list Friday of meat packing plants that have reopened or are set to resume operations.

Ag Secretary Perdue says the USDA, with the CDC, state and local health officials have been “working around the clock to ensure a safe and stable supply of protein” while keeping workers safe. The plants are to follow CDC and OSHA guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID19.

Perdue says President Trump took decisive action to ensure the plants would reopen in a safe way – and “ensure America’s producers and ranchers will be able to bring their product to market.”

Perdue called the meatpacking facility employees coming back to work “patriotic and heroic.”
