USDA announces new round of food support program

The USDA is purchasing $1.5 billion worth of food for national distribution through another round of the Farmers to Families Food Box Program.

Ag Secretary Sony Perdue says this latest round of funding for the program will ‘go a long way’ in helping families access nutritious meals during recovery form the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the fifth round of funding for the program which has received nearly $5 billion dollars of total support. The USDA says the program has distributed more than 132 million food boxes or roughly 3.3 billion meals.
