USDA announces new DEIP allotments

U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced initial allocations for the Dairy Export Incentive Program for the fiscal year running July 1, 2009 through June 30th 2010.

USDA is inviting bids for the export of up to 68,201 metric tons of nonfat dry milk, 21,097 metric tons of butterfat, 3,030 metric tons of cheese and 34 metric tons of other dairy products. These are the maximum amounts allowed by the World Trade Agreement.

In May the Ag Department implemented the DEIP for the first time in years and over the next two months U.S. exporters utilized the program to sell 48,176 metric tons of nonfat dry milk, 19,235 metric tons of butterfat and 2,878 metric tons of cheese.
