US Representative calls on Congress to pass clear, defined WOTUS rule

A Congressman from Nebraska says it’s time for lawmakers to intervene and regulate navigable waters for US farmers and ranchers.

Republican Mike Flood tells Brownfield the current Waters of the US is failing producers. “I’m hearing from ag producers that are saying they want to regulate my farm pond, the ditch and any possible body of water, stream or creek that runs through the United States.  It’s crazy and does not stop.”

He says some lawmakers may be trying to target confined animal feeding operations. “Because they are constantly out here talking about runoff and manure management practices.”

Flood says he believes the US House will be able to pass a clear and defined WOTUS rule, but concerned about Senate passage and potential veto from the President.
