U.S. soybean crush, corn grind up in March

The domestic soybean crush and corn for ethanol use climbed higher in March. Strong demand for soybean products along with solid ethanol margins drove the increases.

The USDA says 193 million bushels of soybeans were crushed in March, record large for any month, and up 19 million bushels from February and 5 million from March 2021.

454.942 million bushels of corn were used for ethanol production, 12% higher than the previous month and 8% above the previous year, with production of distillers dried grains with solubles at 1,887,338 tons, up 11% on the month and 4% on the year.

The USDA’s next set of soybean crush and corn grind projections is out May 12th.
