U.S. milk production up in February

The USDA says milk production in the top 24 states during February was 17.038 billion pounds, up 5.6% from February 2019. That does include an extra day because of the Leap Year. The top production state was California, followed by Wisconsin and Idaho.

Production averaged 1,927 pounds per cow, 94 pounds above last year, with Michigan claiming the top spot.

The number of milk cows was 8.842 million head, up 8,000 on the month and 39,000 on the year.

The USDA’s ag prices for February, including milk, are out on the 31st.

  • 3.57% increase in milk production is because you have 29 days instead of 28. Also that includes the top 24 states why are not rest of the states included in the study? Just saying who is trying to crash what little price we have.
