U.S. ethanol production, stocks up on week

U.S. ethanol production ticked higher last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 971,000 barrels a day, up 8,000 on the week, but 40,000 below a year ago as the industry continues to grapple with margins and federal policy on biofuels. The Renewable Fuels Association says this is the first time since April 2017 production has average less than a million barrels a day over the course of four consecutive weeks.

Ethanol supplies grew 837,000 barrels to 22.061 million following the previous week’s historic drop.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out November 8th.
