U.S. ethanol a popular choice around the world

U.S. ethanol exports are trending higher.

Renewable Fuels Association CEO Geoff Cooper tells Brownfield demand has really come on in recent months.

“In fact, the April numbers showed a four year high of 185 million gallons of ethanol being exports in that month.”

Canada, Brazil, South Korea, and The Netherlands are increasing their use of U.S. ethanol and he says it’s not hard to understand why.

“The global petroleum markets are really tight right now, and countries around the world are looking for lower-cost alternatives and available supplies. So they’re turning to the U.S. to send them some ethanol.”

U.S. ethanol exports in the first quarter of 2022 are up 15 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
