U.S.-China trade talks continue but progress is unclear

U.S.-China trade talks have resumed.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are leading the U.S. delegation in Beijing.

Although President Trump remains optimistic – he said they were making progress last week – there is some confusion over his recent comments that U.S. tariffs could remain in place for a while, even if a deal is reached.

The Chinese Vice Premier plans to be in Washington in early April to continue trade talks.
