U.S. & China review Phase One trade progress

Trade officials from the U.S. and China discussed the Phase One Trade Agreement Monday evening.  The U.S. Trade Representative’s office issued a statement saying Robert Lighthizer and the Chinese Vice Premier Liu He participated in a regularly scheduled video conference to discuss the implementation of the deal.  The call included a discussion about China’s significant purchases of U.S. products and future actions needed to implement the agreement.

The discussion Monday included steps China has taken to remove impediments to American agriculture and financial service companies, ensure greater protection for intellectual property rights, and eliminate forced technology transfer.

The USTR statement says both sides see progress and are committed to taking the steps necessary to ensure the success of the agreement.
