U.S. and EU exchange threats over aviation subsidies

The U.S. and the European Union are exchanging threats over aviation subsidies.

President Trump is threatening to put tariffs on eleven-billion dollars of European products in retaliation for what he says are improper European Union subsidies to airplane manufacturer Airbus. In response, the EU says it will prepare retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. over subsidies to U.S. manufacturer Boeing.

The dispute is related to a WTO ruling last year that said Airbus received illegal funding for two of its models, costing Boeing sales.

Trump says the EU has taken advantage of U.S. trade and “it will soon stop!”
