U.S. and China trade leaders meet

The U.S. Trade Representative has engaged in talks with her Chinese counterpart.  Katherine Tai and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He met virtually Friday in what the USTR office calls a candid exchange where both acknowledged the importance of their bilateral trade relationship and its impact on the global economy.

Ambassador Tai emphasized U.S. concerns relating to China’s state-led, non-market policies and practices that she claims harm American workers, farmers, and businesses.

In a statement, Tai said the two sides agreed they would consult on certain outstanding issues but did not say what those issues are.
