U.S. and China officials continue optimistic tone on trade deal

U.S.-China trade talks continue to move in the right direction, according to President Trump’s top economic adviser Larry Kudlow.

Kudlow told Fox Business News today they aim to have a “Phase 1” agreement in writing for Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to sign when they are in Chile for a multi-nation economic summit in mid-November.

“The mood music continues to be good, and the substance of progress on agriculture—by the way, not just buying farm products, but opening up market access in a number of ways,” Kudlow says.

His comments come after Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said over the weekend that the two sides have made “substantial progress” in trade talks.
