Tyson Foods has announced plans to build a 320 million dollar poultry complex in eastern Kansas.

The company will construct a processing plant, hatchery and feed mill on a 300-acre site south of Tonganoxie. The operation, scheduled to begin production in mid-2019, will produce pre-packaged trays of fresh chicken for retail grocery stores nationwide.

The poultry plant will be capable of processing one-and-a-quarter million birds per week. Tyson will contract with area farmers to raise chickens for the operation.
