Two Minnesota agribusinesses recognized for exports

Two agribusinesses are among six Minnesota companies honored with the 2016 Governor’s International Trade Award.

Great Plains Processing of Luverne, and Ralco Nutrition of Marshall were chosen for developing and growing a significant part of their business from exports.

The Minnesota Trade Office also looks at the workforce supported by international sales, and for developing novel approaches for competing globally during the selection process.

Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Shawntera Hardy calls the six winners models that can inspire other businesses in the state to pursue international trade.

Great Plains Processing manufactures and ships animal feed supplements to 42 countries, accounting for 65 percent of its total sales.

Ralco Nutrition distributes to 25 countries, providing advanced technologies in animal health and enhanced plant performance products.

Minnesota ag, mining, and manufacturing companies generated more than $19 billion dollars in export sales last year, supporting nearly 120,000 jobs.
