Trump says China trade deal means “much less” to him now

President Trump says the phase one trade deal with China means “much less” to him now than when he made it.

Trump made the comment in a White House press briefing Thursday after being questioned about the cancellation of the GOP convention in Jacksonville, Florida due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“We built the greatest economy in the world and we had to turn it off because of what China did. Speaking about China, the trade deal means less to me now than it did. When I made it, it was a great deal…but, it just means much less to me, can you understand that?”

Trump did point out record US corn purchases by China as well as recent soybean purchases.

US Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, a Democrat from Illinois says Trump’s comment is “a slap in the face” to American farmers who have paid the price from the trade war.

China has ordered the U.S. consulate in Chengdu to be closed in response to the US government’s order to close the Chinese consulate in Houston.

  • Tariff wars were supposed to be easy to win, according to trump. I didn’t remember learning that in HS and college history,

  • If Covid was dreamed up in a China Lab & China letting all their people get on jets letting Covid get spread Worldwide in early Jan 2019 ,how thoughtful are they– not thinking they are true friends & we are not making some vital supplies as well. Their patterns of thought are not ours by any stretch of anyone’s imagination. We gave up to much 10 or more yrs ago for the sake of cheaper products. They are in the midst of a vast Military buildup & from history we should know what that leads up to.
