Trump optimistic about having a China trade deal soon

President Trump and his trade team are meeting at the White House today, and Trump has tweeted that he is getting very close to a big deal with China, saying, “They want it, and so do we.” 

New tariffs on China are supposed to start Sunday, but there are signs that might not happen.  New 15% tariffs on 160-billion-dollars’ worth of Chinese clothing, smartphones, laptops, other electronics are planned, but the Wall Street Journal reports U.S. negotiators have offered to cancel the new round of levies and slash about half of the tariffs on the nearly 360-billion-dollars’ worth of Chinese goods already on the tariff list.
