Trump delays next round of tariffs on China

President Trump is holding back on the next round of planned tariffs on Chinese goods.  Trump tweeted Wednesday evening the 5% increase to tariffs scheduled for October 1st will be postponed two weeks.

Trump says he agreed to the delay as a gesture of goodwill at the request of Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, and because the People’s Republic of China will be celebrating its 70th anniversary.

The new date for implementing additional tariffs is October 15th if the two countries don’t reach a trade deal.  Trade talks are planned for early October, but neither country has announced when the Chinese delegation is coming to Washington D.C.
