Trump defends trade policies

President Trump insists his trade policies are helping farmers correct the trade deficit with China.

“China and others have targeted our farmers- not good, not nice,” he says.

Trump defended his decision to implement tariffs on other countries and said the $12 billion relief package will compensate farmers for their losses.

“We’re going to open up markets and we’re going to do it the way it should be,” he says. “You’re going to make it back and it’s going to be made back faster than anyone would know.”

Ag groups say the proposal is only a temporary fix. Many farmers say they want markets, not federal aid.

Trump made the comments at a rally in Florida on Tuesday.
