Trade delegation to visit the Philippines

Farmers and ag leaders from Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota are about to embark on a trade mission to the Philippines.

Minnesota Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen says the delegation leaves July 10th.

“The Philippines has been a good market for corn, pork, with different tariffs being changed there.”

He tells Brownfield the Midwest trade delegation will be touting its products and producers.

“We’re competing in a world market (telling importers) Minnesota produces a high quality crop, that we have a good availability. Kind of telling the story of how our farmers produce that crop. And then having some of our farmers with (us) to help connect with those growers.”

The Philippines is the eighth-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports and the top market in Southeast Asia.
