Thompson says he’s ready for farm bill field hearings to start

House Ag Committee Ranking Member Glenn GT Thompson says he’s hopeful field hearings for the 2023 Farm Bill will begin soon.

“We have to get started on field hearings around the country,” he says. “It’s important to get as many what I like to all essential America or rural America voices to the table when it comes to the farm bill.”

He tells Brownfield he’s thankful the intensity of the farm bill process has picked up with recent hearings to review existing programs including broadband and soil health.

“The one on healthy soils was helpful because it relates to the conservation program so that was a meaningful discussion,” he says.

Brownfield interviewed Thompson during the Ohio Farm Bureau Washington D.C. Leadership Experience.
