The National Agricultural and Food Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) is underway

The National Agricultural and Food Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) is underway in Budapest.

The largest and oldest agricultural event in Hungary, OMÉK, features family farmers, producers, agribusinesses, food industrial companies and more.

Dél KerTÉSZ  is an organization that supports 500 farmer members in Hungary.

Marketing Manager Kitti Gyuricza says “our main task is to integrate the growing process and the sale and packaging and we help farmers in this process so they can sell the products to the market chains.”

Vegetables—including, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and green peas – are picked and selected from producers and then delivered to the company’s cooperative, where the product is placed on the shelves of the store chains within 48 hours after inspection and packaging.

Brownfield also spoke with the National Land Center about its role in irrigation development. The organization operates national irrigation pilot projects, determines irrigation districts according to economic aspects, and partners with farmers to remove barriers from irrigation.

The event is part of the “One With Nature” World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition at HUNGEXPO in Budapest.
