The 92nd National FFA convention kicks off today

A sea of blue and gold jackets has returned to Indianapolis for the 92nd National FFA Convention that kicks off today.

National FFA CEO Mark Poeschl says as the organization continues to grow, they’re ensuring that FFA remains a welcoming place for all young people.

“We’ve recognized that we have to be a welcoming place and want to be a welcoming place for young people in ag education and FFA so we are working diligently to be that and we are focusing on inclusion, diversity, and equity,” he says

He says the organization continues to look for ways to remain relevant and evolve as agriculture evolves. He says one of the ways they are doing that is with the FFA Blue Room that has attracted industry leaders including the administrator of NASA.

“The NASA organization is now viewing FFA as a potential place to engage students that could potentially be part of their overall programs and so I think there are a lot of things going on that make us a relevant organization,” he says.

More than 70,000 members are expected to attend the convention that runs through Saturday.
