Tennessee winter wheat and pastures see improvements in March

The USDA reports improvements to Tennessee’s winter wheat crop and pasture lands in the month of March.

Winter wheat is rated 75% good to excellent, up from 64% in February with reports of little disease.

Pasture and rangelands are rated 42% good to excellent, up from 36% in February. The state’s hay crop is rated 77% adequate to surplus, considered sufficient for the winter season with reports of supplies lasting longer than expected despite impacts to pastures from wet weather.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume next week.
