Tennessee harvest update: 54% cotton and 66% soybeans harvested

Tennessee farmers were busy planting winter wheat, harvesting corn, cotton, and soybeans as conditions allowed.   Some cattle producers are battling prussic acid on Johnson Grass.

According to the USDA, corn is 94% harvested.  Fifty-four percent of the cotton crop has been harvested, behind both last year and the five-year average.  Soybean harvest continues to run behind the average pace with 66% of the crop has been harvested.  

Winter wheat is 71% planted with 50% of the crop emerged.

Pasture conditions are rated 66% rated good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 94% and subsoil moisture is 89% adequate to surplus.
