Tennessee farmers getting closer to harvest

Corn harvest is getting closer for many Tennessee farmers.

Soybeans are rated 48% good to excellent, with 95% blooming, 80% setting pods, and 1% dropping leaves.  Cotton is rated 57% good to excellent, 95% setting bolls, and 7% bolls opening. Corn is rated 32% good to excellent with 60% dented, and 9% mature.  Tobacco is 93% topped and 15% cut, 44% of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

Pastures are rated 53% good to excellent, while many livestock producers are still concerned about hay yields and availability, they are much more optimistic than in recent weeks. 

Topsoil moisture is 86% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 82% adequate to surplus.
