Tennessee crops need more than scattered showers

Scattered showers provided relief to some crops, however, crops in areas that didn’t receive rain continue to show stress.

Seventy-two percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with 62 percent blooming and 35 percent setting pods.  Cotton is rated 66 percent good to excellent with 86 percent of the crop squaring and 42 percent setting bolls.  Corn is rated 75 percent good to excellent with 87 percent silking and 43 percent in the dough stage.

Fifty-nine percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.

Sixty-seven percent of Topsoil and seventy percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
