Tennessee crops: 79% cotton and 85% soybeans harvested

A cold front moved through last week bringing record low temperatures and in some cases snow.  Cotton and soybean farmers took advantage of the drier conditions toward the end of the week to make progress on harvest.  According to the USDA, cotton harvest is 79 percent complete and soybean harvest is 85 percent complete.

Winter wheat is 81 percent planted and 58 percent emerged with 64 percent rated good to excellent.

Livestock producers continue to feed hay due to the drier weather earlier this year and there are concerns about hay supplies through the winter months.
