Tennessee crops: 75% soybeans, 93% cotton planted

Drier weather continues across Tennessee and the lack of precipitation has some growers are concerned about crop development.

Seventy-five percent of soybeans have been planted and 58 percent of the crop has emerged, and 76 percent are rated good to excellent.  Ninety-three percent of the cotton crop has been planted and 12 percent of the crop is squaring with 56 percent rated good to excellent. The crop development remains behind the averages. Seventy-eight percent of tobacco has been set.

Seventy-three percent of the corn crop is rated good to excellent and 2 percent of the crop is silking. 

Nineteen percent of the wheat crop has been harvested.  The first cutting of hay is 75 percent complete.

Sixty-one percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.

96 percent of Topsoil and 93 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
