Tennessee crops: 74% soybeans and 62% cotton good to excellent

Rainfall has helped keep crops on track as temperatures rise in Tennessee.

Seventy-four percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with 34 percent blooming.  Cotton is rated 62 percent good to excellent with 69 percent of the crop squaring and 20 percent setting bolls.  Corn is rated 73 percent good to excellent with 64 percent silking and 19 percent in the dough stage.

Sixty-one percent of pastures are rated good to excellent and the first cutting of hay is 99 percent complete.

Seventy-one percent of Topsoil and eighty percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
