Tennessee crops: 39% soybeans and 37% cotton rated good to excellent

Hit-or-miss rain showers have brought little relief to Tennessee farmers.

Statewide, soybeans are rated 39% good to excellent, with 34% blooming, and 7% setting pods.  Cotton is rated 37% good to excellent, 65% of cotton is squaring and 22% setting bolls. Corn is rated 40% good to excellent with 67% silking and 11% in the dough stage.  Tobacco is 20% topped and 36% is rated good to excellent.

Pastures conditions dropped to 27% good to excellent and with the declining conditions, farmers have been forced to start feeding hay, tapping into an already short supply.

Topsoil moisture is 64% short to very short and subsoil moisture is 65% short to very short.
