Tennessee crops: 23% corn, 2% soybeans planted

Unusually cool temperatures and heavy rains in Tennessee last week delayed fieldwork and several touches of frost and freezes did damage some of the state’s fruit crops.  Twenty-three percent of the state’s corn crop has been planted and 3 percent emerged.  Two percent of soybeans have been planted.  Eighty-seven percent of the winter wheat crop has jointed and 26 percent headed.  Sixty-four percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Sixty-nine percent of apples are in full bloom.  Those are expected to have fared better than some of the ornamentals in last week’s weather. 

Sixty-five percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.

100 percent of Topsoil and Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
