Ten days remain to enroll in CFAP2

The USDA still has almost 20 percent of its funds available for the second Coronavirus Food Assistance Program and a little more than a week left for farmers to sign up.

As of November 29th, the agency has approved more than $11 billion in direct farmer payments for more than 700,000 producers, about 50,000 more applications than the first program.

Top payments have gone for corn, cattle, sales commodities, soybeans, and milk.

Sales commodities include specialty crops, aquaculture, nursery crops and floriculture, and other commodities not included in the price trigger and flat-rate categories.

Farmers in Iowa continue to receive the most payments from the CFAP2 program with more than $1 billion, followed by Nebraska with almost $756 million, California at nearly $752 million, Minnesota with nearly $720 million, and Illinois with almost $706 million.

Other Brownfield states totals for CFAP2 include Arkansas with $164 million, Indiana with $364 million, Michigan with nearly $296 million, Missouri at almost $361 million, Ohio at almost $292 million, South Dakota at almost $501 million, Tennessee with nearly $138 million, and Wisconsin with nearly $467 million.
