Tariffs Hurt the Heartland responds to Trump’s speech

A joint statement issued by Farmers for Free Trade and Americans for Free Trade, in reaction to President Trump’s speech at the American Farm Bureau Convention, says there is uncertainty and fear “among many farmers and ranchers about how the President’s trade policies are impacting ag.”

Trump told Farm Bureau members he’s working to fix unfair trade issues, “We’re turning all of that around with fair trade deals that put American farmers, ranchers and, in fact, to put America first. That’s what I’m interested in, America first.”

Former Louisiana Congressman Charles Boustany spokesman for Tariffs Hurt the Heartland said “Farmers know that once you lose a market, it’s hard to get it back” and further, “that soybeans are rotting in the fields in Louisiana.”

Tariffs Hurt the Heartland is a bipartisan campaign against the tariffs, backed by more than 150 trade organizations and ag commodity groups.

  • Make no mistake I value America’s farmers and ranchers contributions – but there is more to America than farming and ranching. Stop whining and get on board with the President’s goal of fair trade for all!!!
