Taiwanese trade mission to Great Lakes

USGC Michigan TiawanA delegation of U.S. Grains Council members from Taiwan recently toured the Great Lakes region to learn more about expanding exports.

USGC Director for Taiwan Clover Chang tells Brownfield his group was very impressed by the use of American ag technology and improvements in corn production.  “You know how to improve the production and how to reduce the cost.”

He told Brownfield Ag News at the recent MSU Ag Innovation Day, Taiwanese grain buyers want to learn more about using DDGs. Chang says they might be too conservative using less than half of what the American farms are feeding livestock.

He says Taiwan currently imports just over four-and-a-half tons of corn but he expects that to grow. The 10 day mission included farms and agribusinesses throughout parts of Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.
