Sudden death and lodging affecting some Illinois soybeans

There are some reports in Illinois of soybean sudden death syndrome and lodging as the crop gets closer to maturity. The USDA says 95 percent of the Illinois corn crop is in the dough stage.  Sixty-eight percent is dented and seven percent is mature. The corn crop is 85 percent good to excellent.  Ninety-four percent of soybeans are setting pods and seven percent are turning color. The soybean crop is 78 percent good to excellent. Pasture and range is 81 percent good to excellent.
