Stimulus talks on pause

Republican and Democrat leaders in Washington have signaled work on a coronavirus stimulus relief package will resume in the lame duck session.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says work on a new aid bill is “job one.” But, he’s urging Democrats to accept a pared down stimulus bill which he proposed last month.

House Democrat leaders, meanwhile, have been aiming for a higher amount along the lines of their Heroes Act passed in May and October.

Stimulus talks between House Leader Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin ended just before the November 3rd election. There is no sign yet that any talks have resumed.
