Steyer to lead Michigan Soybean Committee

The Michigan Soybean Committee has named its new Chief Executive Officer.

Ben Steyer tells Brownfield he wants to gain a better understanding of checkoff programs over the next few months before identifying additional priorities.

“I think it goes back to just bringing value to Michigan soybean farmers, letting them know their checkoff dollars are going to some great projects that are going to bring them value,” he says.

Steyer grew up on a grain farm in northwest Ohio and worked earlier in his career for a family-owned seed company.  He most recently served as the executive director of 1-800-SWEEPER, a co-op organization made up of independently owned and operated power sweeping companies.

Brownfield interviews Steyer during the Great Lakes Crop Summit.
