State corn board says farmers should prioritize their mental health at harvest

The head of a state corn board is encouraging farmers to stay connected and prioritize mental health this harvest season.

Kelly Brunkhorst is with the Nebraska Corn Board. “Mental fatigue is out there just from the year we’ve had from the weather standpoint and from the risk.”

From volatility in the commodity markets, to weather and geopolitical challenges, he tells Brownfield those stressors can pile up quickly. “We want to make sure they have an outlet where they can visit with somebody.  If they’re ever in a position where it’s getting to a point where they need an outlet to visit with somebody, we want to make sure those outlets are out there.”
