Soybean leaders keeping an eye on pesticide regulations in 2022
The newly elected vice president of the American Soybean Association says they will be keeping a close eye on pesticide regulations in 2022.
Daryl Cates tells Brownfield there has been a lot of talk recently about EPA changing the federal dicamba label again.
“That could be a true disaster if they would up and change that labeling right now.”
He says a major change this close to planting would be poor timing for farmers with 2022 crop plans locked in place.
“Especially talks of possibly not being able to spray dicamba after April 30th. The marketplace isn’t able to change that fast with trying to spray other chemicals or even get different seed when we are just a few months away from planting.”
He says ASA will continue to fight for the science-based solutions soybean farmers need in their toolbox.
“It just seems like there is a constant issue of trying to fight for what is considered true science and keeping what chemicals we have on the market.”
