Soybean and cotton harvest kick off in Missouri

Soybean and cotton harvest both kicked off in Missouri last week as corn and rice harvest continue.  

The USDA reports as of Sunday, 3% of soybeans are harvested, compared to the 5-year average of 4%. 45% of the crop is dropping leaves with 47% rated good to excellent.

Cotton harvest is 2% complete, compared to 5% on average. 66% of the crop is opening bolls and 52% is considered good. Cotton harvest had not yet started at this time last year.

Corn harvest is 19% complete, compared to 32% at this time last year and 30% on average. 73% of the crop has reached maturity and USDA considers 48% good to excellent.

Rice harvest reached 35%, in line with last year, but 8 percentage points behind average. 58% is rated good to excellent, unchanged on the week.
