Soybean and cotton harvest begin in Missouri

Missouri farmers kicked off soybean and cotton harvest last week.

The USDA reports as of Sunday 4% of soybeans are harvested, just ahead of the five-year average with 64% dropping leaves.

Cotton harvest is 2% complete, slightly behind average, with 71% of bolls opening.

28% of corn is harvested, slightly ahead of average, with 86% mature.

Rice harvest is 53% complete, compared to 37% on average.

Winter wheat planting also began last week with 2% complete.

The USDA rates soybeans 44%, cotton 64%, corn 33% and rice 75% good to excellent.
