Soy crush continues to expand in 2022

Renewable diesel is driving the demand for additional soy crush capacity, according to Reggie Kock, a merchandising manager for AGP.

“Overall, soybean demand is hot right now. There’s a real buzz in the industry. We’re going to increase crush by more than 300 million bushels based on the facilities that are reportedly being built.”

AGP is building a new soy crush facility near David City, Nebraska with an estimated completion date in 2025. In addition to exporting the meal and oil produced there, increased production will continue to provide a domestic market for the soybean oil.

“The demand for oil right now, in terms of renewable diesel and food market, there’s a bit of a food versus fuel fight, but this is some of the biggest growth the soybean industry has seen in awhile.”

AGP has at least 10 existing soy processing facilities from Missouri to Minnesota.
