Southeast Iowa farmer days away from harvesting

A southeast Iowa farmer says harvest activity could get started by next week.

Tim Meyer raises corn, soybeans, and cattle in Henry County. “No harvesting here yet,” he said. “A little bit of chopping has been done over the last few weeks. Folks are getting real close, but not a lot going on.”

He tells Brownfield yields could be a mixed bag, but he remains optimistic. “We were on the edge of a lot of moisture. We will see some big differences field to field.”

Meyer says he’s a few weeks out from harvesting soybeans with a good portion of the crop still dropping leaves.
