South Dakota corn planting 95% complete, soybeans 80%

South Dakota corn planting is 95 percent complete and soybeans are at 80 percent.

The USDA says corn emergence is well ahead of last year at 72 percent, with 82 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.

Soybean emergence is 44 percent.  The five-year average is 35 percent.  In the first condition rating of the season, 83 percent of beans are rated good to excellent.

Spring wheat emergence is 91 percent, with 74 percent rated good to excellent.

For winter wheat, 23 percent has headed and 81 percent is in the good to excellent category.
